Guides / Glass Bottom Boat Port Vila — What to Expect on Reef Explorer
Vanuatu’s only semi-submersible
The Reef Explorer is not a huge glass-bottom barge. It is a small semi-submersible with an underwater cabin — guests step down and watch the reef through the windows while the boat moves slowly over coral. We keep groups to a maximum of six so kids can actually see.
What the hour looks like
- Check in at our Seafront office next to Nambawan Cafe
- Short safety brief
- Board and settle in the cabin
- Slow pass over harbour reef life
- Back to the Seafront dock
Popular with resort families and anyone who wants the reef without swimming. On the occasional cruise-ship morning we can tighten the run when all-aboard times require it — tell us if that applies to you.
Who should book this
Families with young children, grandparents, non-swimmers, photographers who want a stable cabin, and anyone comparing “snorkel vs dry reef.” If you want to swim, book Paradise Cove or Iririki instead — or do Reef Explorer first and snorkel another day.
Price & booking
Adults from $65 AUD, children 6–12 $32 AUD, under 5 free. Live calendar on the Reef Explorer tour page. Monday–Friday operation.
Why book the glass bottom boat direct
You are buying a scarce cabin (max 6), not a mass shore-ex bus. Direct booking shows remaining seats, locks AUD pricing, and puts you on WhatsApp with the same office that checks you in. That beats hoping a reseller still has the morning slot.
